Q & A
What are your opening hours? Can I come over to your shop to see your selection?
We're an online cake shop, NOT a Cafe.
Therefore, we don't have "official opening hours" and there´s not cake-display to see (sorry:).
We bake all cakes fresh to order only, each cake we create gets collected on the same day, so we also don´t have "cakes to pick up". Need a cake? Just place your order (p.s, ideally 2 weeks ahead, but even if shorter - try us), we'll get back to you via email with the confirmation/ more details.
* for last-minute orders, please submit the order form and give us a call us to ensure it is possible.
How do I place my order?
Birthday & anniversary and similar celebration cakes should be ordered here.
For wedding cakes, click here to get started.
For a last-minute-cake, just submit your order (here) & call us immediately to make sure we´re on it: +49 (0) 1578 0269 563.
How far in advance should I book my cake?
As soon as you can, at least 1-2 weeks in advance, especially between April-September when the demand is high and the slots are running out fast.
We take orders on a first-come, first-serve basis and have limited availability.
All of our cakes are made to order.
Can I ask for a particular design?
Yes, you can. However, we stick to our artistic signature style (as shown on the website, Instagram etc),
all cakes are subject to the artistic expression of CakesBerlin.
All our products are handmade and unique, made by a cake artist, so no two are ever the same.
As such, cake garnishes will change from time to time depending on their availability & flower season.
Where a certain styling element is unavailable, CakesBerlin will endeavor to replace the element with another to maintain the artistic integrity of the finished cake.
How shall I transport & store my cake?
* All cakes come in a carton closed box.
1. By car: the cake box is at its best on your lap or the flat & stable floor of the car, better with the a/c on.
2. DO NOT driver with the cake box on the car seat, as it can cause the cake to slope during transportation.
3. By public transport: you might want to bring a big bag to carry the box (think BIG blue IKEA-bag!).
4. By bike - just don’t.
5. Once you’re home - Keep in the fridge, preferable in the original box, until 45min. (in summer) -90min. (in winter) prior to serving time.
6. Keep in the shade/ somewhere chill, and NEVER EVER not in direct sun.
Can you add a figure of....?
For high-quality animal figures, we use SCHLEICH animals.
P.s, we don't do photo-on-cakes.
Do you make Vegan or Gluten-Free cakes?
We used to, but not anymore. There are some really great specializes vegan shop out there:)
Do you deliver to homes and venues?
Yes. We don´t deliver ourselves but can arrange a delivery for you via courier service. The price is dependant on distance.
Please provide your delivery address when placing your order.
Will my cake be ok in the fridge overnight?
Yes, it will be just fine! Just let us know your plan when placing your order.
All of our cakes should be eaten within 48 hours from pickup time. Got a stinky cheese in your fridge? You might want to wrap the cake box in a big plastic bag (or two!) before storing it in the fridge. This keeps the cake free of fridgeodours and helps the flowers to remain fresh. Bring the cake to room temperature before serving. Keep it away from direct sunlight or heaters.
What's your cancellation policy?
In order to book your order, down payment will be charged in advance - which is non-refundable.
In the unlikely event that CakesBerlin is unable to complete your order due to personal circumstances, we will offer you a full refund.
In the unlikely event that CakesBerlin is unable to stay open and/ or produce cakes within your cake order date (due to CoronaVirus regulations given by the German government), your cake credit will be transformed into a voucher which you will be able to claim within 6 months (as a single order).
The cancellation policy of wedding cakes and bespoke cakes is different and written in the contract/ invoice.
